Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Code Compliance Specialist to join our team. As a Building Code Compliance Specialist, you will be responsible for enforcing the Ontario Building Code and other applicable legislation, ensuring that buildings and structures are safe and compliant with regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct inspections of buildings and structures to ensure compliance with the Ontario Building Code and other applicable legislation.
  • Investigate complaints and concerns related to building code compliance.
  • Enforce orders and notices of violation to ensure compliance with building code regulations.
  • Collaborate with other divisions and agencies to ensure effective enforcement of building code regulations.
  • Provide education and training to builders, architects, and engineers on building code requirements.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve building code compliance and enforcement.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in a related field, such as building science, architecture, or engineering.
  • Considerable experience in building code enforcement, inspection, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and other applicable legislation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
