Job Title: Chief Executive Officer Office Intern

The First Nations University of Canada is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to fill the role of Chief Executive Officer Office Intern. This position will provide support to the CEO and senior management team in the development and implementation of the National Indigenous Economic Prosperity Institute's strategic plan.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide administrative support to the CEO and senior management team
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the National Indigenous Economic Prosperity Institute's strategic plan
  • Manage the NIEPI budget and ensure effective financial management
  • Lead the advocacy, identification, storytelling, and showcasing of exemplars of economic reconciliation
  • Support research in economic reconciliation, Indigenous business and entrepreneurship, policy and programming development for organizations
  • Create digital infrastructure to serve as the national repository and archival resource of case studies, stories, and examples of work related to the NIEDB's calls to Indigenous prosperity
  • Create and implement paid Indigenous student mentorship/internship program within NIEPI
  • Provide direct oversight to the Director of Research NIEPI
Requirements:
  • At least nine (9) years of progressively responsible experience, including five years in a senior management role, in positions providing exposure to community development, business development, and may include experience in Economic Development, Marketing, or Public Relations
  • Strong understanding of Indigenous economies, business and entrepreneurial histories and current landscape
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Proven proficiency and experience facilitating, liaising, and advocating within an Indigenous organization and/or academic institution
  • Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
