Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist early childhood educators in planning and implementing child-care programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
  • Supervise and engage children in activities, such as storytelling, teaching songs, and preparing crafts.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment for children, including preparing snacks and arranging rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods.
  • Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children.
Requirements:
  • College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year.
  • 1 to less than 7 months of experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions:
  • Child care centre setting.
  • Repetitive tasks and physically demanding work.
  • Combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, and kneeling.
