Job Title: Construction Trades Assistant

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Construction Trades Assistant to join our team at GMR LANDSCAPING INC. As a Construction Trades Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting tradespeople with various tasks, including loading and unloading construction materials, erecting and dismantling scaffolding, and mixing and pouring concrete.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist tradespeople with various tasks, including loading and unloading construction materials
  • Erect and dismantle scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring, and barricades
  • Mix, pour, and spread materials such as concrete and asphalt
  • Help medical examiners in charge and assist in aligning pipes during pipeline construction
  • Assist in drilling and blasting rock on construction sites
  • Assist in framing houses, erecting walls, and building roofs
  • Level earth to fine grade specifications
  • Pave and rake asphalt
  • Assist in demolishing buildings
  • Clean and pile salvaged materials
  • Clean up chemical spills and other contaminants
  • Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites
  • Tend or feed machines or equipment used in construction
  • Direct traffic at or near construction sites

Requirements:

  • 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in a related field
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
  • Manual dexterity and ability to handle heavy loads
  • Valid driver's license and own transportation
  • Steel-toed safety boots, hard hat, and safety glasses/goggles

Working Conditions:

  • Work outdoors, at heights, underground, and in confined spaces
  • Exposure to dust, cold, and refrigerated environments
  • Fast-paced environment with tight deadlines

Security and Safety:

  • Criminal record check required

Transportation/Travel Information:

  • Own transportation and valid driver's license required

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:

  • Physically demanding work environment
  • Manual dexterity and ability to handle heavy loads

Weight Handling:

  • Up to 45 kg (100 lbs)

Own Tools/Equipment:

  • Steel-toed safety boots, hard hat, and safety glasses/goggles
