About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Behavioural Therapist Instructor to join our team at Horizons Behaviour Consulting. As an Instructor, you will be working with children and adults diagnosed with autism or other developmental disabilities, providing behaviour intervention in-centre or in the community.

Job Overview:

Under the supervision of a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA), the Behavioural Therapist Instructor will perform various tasks and implement goals and objectives as indicated by each behaviour program. This includes providing one-to-one intervention, utilizing the Principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) in the home, school or community.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide one-to-one intervention, utilizing ABA techniques in a home, school or community setting.
  • Utilize chaining and shaping techniques to support client learning.
  • Take accurate and legible data in a timely manner.
  • Communicate parental concerns immediately to the supervisor.
  • Ability to utilize CPI and under no circumstance restrain, hold, pinch, push, hit or provide any physical or mental discomfort to the child or adult.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Previous experience working with the special needs population.
  • Bachelor's Degree or currently enrolled in a University program related to Behavioural Science, Behaviour Analysis, Psychology, or Early Childhood Development.
  • 1 year of Direct ABA experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluently bilingual in English and French (highly preferred).
  • Valid First Aid/CPR Level C.
  • Clean Vulnerable Sector Police Check.

Location: Ottawa, ON

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm
