We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Laboratory Technologist to join our team at Lakeridge Health. As a Laboratory Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results, which are essential for patient diagnosis and treatment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine and specialized test procedures in Chemistry, Hematology, and Blood Bank, including organizing workflow to maintain performance standards of quantity and quality.
- Observe, troubleshoot, and report problems with methods and equipment to the Supervisor.
- Ensure cleanliness of equipment and immediate work area, following established safety and infection control procedures.
- Participate in student/staff training programs, as required, and perform other duties as assigned.
- Certification with the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Sciences (CSMLS).
- Current registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO).
- Current theoretical and technical knowledge in Hematology, Blood Transfusion, and Biochemistry.
- In-depth knowledge of techniques, principles, and instruments and their interrelationships.
- Strong working and technical knowledge of electronic and/or mechanical equipment necessary to perform routine and specialized testing.
- Proven problem-solving skills, with the ability to recognize problems, identify the cause, create alternatives, and determine solutions.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment, deductive reasoning, and attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively work under pressure in emergency situations.
- Proven organizational skills, with the ability to assess requests and prioritize them to ensure good and prompt patient care.
- Physically capable of performing bending, lifting, turning frequently throughout the shift to accomplish tasks.
- Recent experience in a Core Laboratory, preferred.
- Must have a satisfactory performance record.

- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices, including staff, patient, and environmental safety, and participation in regular in-services in this area.
- Proven good attendance record, with capabilities of maintaining this same standard.
The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and OPSEU Local 348.
