Senior Finance Specialist, Innovation and Reinsurance

As a Senior Specialist, Innovation, you will play a key role in supporting the Accounting Operations and Procurement Team in the implementation of a flood reinsurance program. This program aims to advance the implementation of a national flood reinsurance program by 2025, as announced in the Budget 2024.
In this role, you will work closely with stakeholders to design and implement the accounting and procurement operations/processes of the new flood reinsurance entity. This includes general and tax accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, banking, travel & expenses, procurement, and vendor risk management.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement accounting and procurement processes for the new flood reinsurance entity.
- Collaborate with the Financial Systems Group to design and develop a finance platform tailored to the operational and reporting needs of the new entity.
- Manage the change process by engaging and communicating with stakeholders, providing technical leadership and coaching to more junior colleagues.
- Lead all accounting and procurement operations of the new entity after its successful implementation.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in finance process design and implementation, external or internal auditing and/or accounting operations.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct research on unique business areas and rigorous analysis using critical thinking and judgement to resolve complex issues.
- Proven experience in leading finance system implementation (including ERP systems) or transformation projects and managing change.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
- Bilingualism (English and French).
- CPA designation.
