Job Title: Data Management Intern/Co-op

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Data Management Intern/Co-op to join our Business Banking Operations team. As a Data Management Intern/Co-op, you will assist in championing data management activities in Business Banking, ensuring data is managed and governed in accordance with the Enterprise Data Management Standards and Information Management Policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a subject matter expert on the fundamentals of Data Management to provide change management training and support to business partners.
  • Work with business partners and application owners to complete data lineage, data mapping, data profiling, metadata documentation, and defining data quality rules.
  • Document data-related requirements needed to build out data retention and disposition capabilities for applications and other data media in the Business Banking inventory.
  • Contribute to the logical groupings of data based on association with a common subject area, as part of the larger work effort to define data domains and work related to a centralized repository supporting consistent usage and standardization.
  • Support activities required for ingestion of data to a cloud-based data lake.
  • Work with a cross-functional team to deliver data management-related activities in an iterative manner to derive value faster.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement nature of the Data Management team through timely feedback, knowledge sharing, and collaborating with other team members.

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Analytics, Data, Business/Commerce, or a related field.
  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree with the intent of going back to school at the start of your work term.
  • Proficient in Microsoft tools such as MS Visio and MS PowerPoint.
  • Oral and written communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of business process analysis methodologies to understand and map current business processes.
  • Knowledge of data and its upstream and downstream uses to contribute where data is used across the process.
  • Knowledge of data platforms and warehouse designs/principles considered an asset (i.e., MS Azure).
  • Knowledge of programming languages would be an asset (SQL, Python).
