We are seeking an Actuarial Co-op/Intern to contribute to the development of solutions to challenging client issues, working under the guidance of senior level staff and delivering consulting services to a broad range of defined benefit clients. The Opportunity: We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Actuarial Co-op/Intern. This role offers the opportunity to apply analytical, problem-solving, communication, and technology skills to contribute to the development of solutions to challenging client issues. The Role: As an Actuarial Co-op/Intern, you will be responsible for completing actuarial valuations for multiemployer pension plans, public pension plans, and other actuarial projects under the supervision of experienced actuaries. Your projects may include valuation activities and special project work addressing unique and emerging retirement plan issues. Key Responsibilities: • Research and gather information • Review and analyze work products, including plan data and financial statements • Provide input to the development of solutions • Create and update valuation programs and spreadsheet applications • Assist with report preparation and government filings • Work with senior actuary and consultant staff to support their effective presentation of work product to clients Requirements: • A minimum of two years (and ongoing) undergraduate education or an undergraduate degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or related discipline • Completion of at least one actuarial exam is preferred, and the intent to attain actuarial accreditation is required • 0-3 years of retirement plan actuarial experience within a consulting and/or insurance company environment • Relevant computer and software skills (preferably Excel) • Task management skills • Detail-orientation; organization and analytical skills • Demonstrated communication (oral/written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively within a diverse group About Segal: Segal is a privately owned, leading North American employee benefit, human resources, and investment management consulting firm with over 80 years of history providing trusted advice that improves lives.
