Acute Medicine Support Specialist

Job Summary:
This role is for a Personal Support Worker to work in our Acute Medicine department. The successful candidate will provide essential care needs for patients, including bathing, grooming, positioning, toileting, mobility, nutrition, and ambulation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning of care for patients using the Standards of Nursing Practice and the Nursing Process.
- Provide personal care needs for patients, including bathing, grooming, and toileting.
- Contribute to the psycho-social needs of patients by assisting them in programs and activities.
- Assist with the admission, transfer, and discharge of patients.
- Ensure the patient's environment is kept orderly and clean.
- Contribute to the efficient and competent management of the unit by attending and participating in patient rounds.
Qualifications:
- Personal Support Worker certification from an approved college program.
- Competence in BCLS.
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Knowledge of patient care requirements and equipment specific to the clinical area.
- Ability to meet physical demands of the job, including extended standing, walking, lifting, and climbing using proper technique.
- Ability to work with all levels of nursing staff to achieve positive patient outcomes.
