Job Summary

The City of Ottawa is seeking a highly skilled Traffic Operations Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Traffic Services department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient flow of traffic in our city.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze traffic data to identify trends and areas for improvement
  • Develop and implement traffic management plans to mitigate congestion and reduce accidents
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to design and implement traffic control measures, such as traffic signals and signage
  • Conduct site visits to assess traffic conditions and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Develop and maintain databases and reports to track traffic performance and identify areas for improvement

Requirements

  • Completion of a 3-year community college diploma in Transportation Engineering Technology or Civil Engineering Technology
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in traffic investigations, traffic operations, or an equivalent transportation-related field
  • Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) with OACETT
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collect and analyze data to inform decision-making
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders and team members
