We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Manager to lead our Horizon Program for Geriatric Psychiatry. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and leading a team of healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care and services.
Key Responsibilities- Provide clinical leadership and direction to inter-professional program staff, promoting quality and safe patient care and rehabilitation practices.
- Promote positive work environments by role modeling professional behavior, promoting teamwork and inter-professional collaboration, addressing workplace conflict, and effectively managing change initiatives.
- Promote positive labor relations, respond to complaints and grievances, and discipline staff as appropriate.
- Directly manage the work assignments and scheduling for regulated and unregulated staff in a 24-hour operation.
- Coordinate and manage inter-professional staff allocations, ensuring optimum utilization based on monitoring and interpretation of workload measurement, RAI, SMART System data.
- Engage in recruitment and retention efforts.
- Manage performance, conduct performance reviews, monitor compliance with mandatory education, authorize attendance records, implement Hospital Attendance Support Program, attend Rehab meetings, monitor medical accommodation work plans, address payroll discrepancies.
- Manage the overall program/unit budget and Direct Operating Expenditures (DOE).
- Liaise with internal programs/departments and external community partners.
- Participate in hospital committees and project work.
- Collaborate with the Program Director to support the hospital's strategic directions.
- Bachelor's degree in a health-related field; preference for a master's degree.
- Membership in a healthcare regulatory college or equivalent workplace experience.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience with demonstrated healthcare leadership experience, preferably in a unionized environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of psychiatric clinical practice, team processes, security procedures, professional standards, research activities, and current trends and approaches to treatment and rehabilitation of mental illness.
- Knowledge of Management theory, project management, and risk management.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Mental Health Act, Regulated Health Professions Act, Personal Health Information Protection Act, and the Health Care Consent Act.
- Change management skills to promote change aligned with the hospital's strategic directions.
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence.
