In alignment with the core vision and values of Northern Health, the Dispensary Pharmacist is responsible for providing pharmacy distribution services. This includes interpreting medication orders and prescriptions, evaluating prescriptions for therapeutic appropriateness, and ensuring the accurate and efficient dispensing and compounding of medications, along with maintaining complete dispensing records.
The role involves effective communication with physicians, patients, and other healthcare team members to clarify prescriptions and resolve any issues.
The pharmacist will also engage in the collection of data for medication utilization evaluations, implement safety initiatives within the dispensary, participate in quality control activities, contribute to internal publications, and take part in clinical drug trials following established protocols.
Furthermore, the pharmacist will collaborate with healthcare team members to identify and address drug therapy challenges, aiming to enhance patient care outcomes.
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, Day shifts, with hours ranging from 07:00 to 15:00, 08:00 to 16:00, and 10:00 to 18:00. The rotation may include occasional weekend and statutory holiday coverage (approximately one weekend day per month and four holidays per year).
New Compensation :
As of April 1, 2024, the new wage is: $64.19/hour
University Hospital of Northern BC (UHNBC) serves as the largest Acute Care facility in the Northern Health region, functioning as a hub for specialized health services.

- Provides undergraduate physician training through the Northern Medical Program, in collaboration with the University of British Columbia and University of Northern British Columbia.
- Hosts residents in UBC's Family Practice Residency Program.
- Acts as a key clinical education site for nursing and various health sciences students at UNBC, the College of New Caledonia, BCIT, and other institutions.
- Patient care addition featuring an expanded emergency department and updated ICU.
- State-of-the-art maternal-child care center (including a single-room neonatal ICU).
- Facilities designed to support undergraduate physician training.
- MRI unit.
UHNBC is also home to a cancer center for Northern BC, offering a comprehensive range of cancer treatments, including radiation therapy.

Qualifications
- Current license from the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia.
- Active membership in the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists is encouraged.
- At least one year of relevant experience in a hospital pharmacy is desirable.

Communication:
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, the public, medical staff, and interdisciplinary team members using verbal, written, and digital communication methods. Proficient in applying conflict resolution skills.

Proven ability to synthesize and evaluate relevant data (from multiple sources) to problem-solve and make informed decisions effectively. Applies critical thinking and decision-making skills using a systematic approach.
