Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Plumbing Engineer to join our team at Fairmont Royal York. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our plumbing systems and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on plumbing systems, fixtures, and equipment to ensure they are functioning properly and efficiently.
  • Carry out troubleshooting and diagnostic work to identify and resolve issues with plumbing systems and equipment.
  • Execute work as assigned in a PM program to ensure all plumbing systems and equipment are routinely inspected, repaired, and maintained.
  • Implement temporary safe solutions to minimize the impact of work on guests.
  • Oversee any plumbing work carried out in the hotel, ensuring it meets the Royal York Hotel standards and Building Code of Ontario.
  • Respond to guest requests for repairs and maintenance in guest rooms and public areas.
  • Maintain an adequate stock of plumbing supplies and parts.
  • Good upkeep, repair, and maintenance of all kitchen equipment.
  • Work with contractors and in-house staff on renovation and remodeling requirements.
  • Ensure supplies are stored and organized in a manner where inventories can be maintained.
  • Attend training courses, workshops, and seminars to stay current on mechanical technology related to the job.
Qualifications
  • Certified plumber under the Apprenticeship and Tradesmen Qualification Act or equivalent experience.
  • Five (5) years of experience in a similar role.
  • Working knowledge and ability to repair HVAC, mechanical, and electrical equipment systems.
  • WHMIS & OHSA.
  • Excellent guest service and ability to communicate in English.
Physical Aspects of the Position
  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift.
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs.
  • Constant kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting.
  • Frequent ascending or descending ladders, stairs, and ramps.
