About the Role

Mastronardi Produce, a leading greenhouse vegetable company, is seeking an experienced Crop Supervisor to join our team in Delta, BC. As a key member of our cultivation department, you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing a team, and ensuring the highest quality produce is delivered to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Supervision: Provide guidance and support to greenhouse personnel in maintaining and caring for berry produce.
  • Production Planning: Assist in developing and implementing new production plans to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure adherence to company policies, client requirements, and project standards, including food safety protocols.
  • Crop Care: Manage daily crop care efforts to optimize production and implement proper techniques and sequences to promote healthy crop growth.
  • Forecasting and Planning: Collaborate with the Operations Manager to forecast production and develop strategies to meet customer demands.
  • Process Improvement: Work with the cultivation department to develop and improve processes, and supervise post-harvest activities.
  • Team Management: Motivate and supervise the cultivation staff to meet performance targets and ensure a clean and safe work environment.
  • Pest Management: Implement Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and environmental control techniques to minimize pest pressure.
  • Compliance and Regulatory: Work with the Compliance Officer to ensure the implementation of the Track and Trace program.
  • Workplace Safety: Ensure that Work Safe Practices are followed and schedule manufacturing duties for all stages and aspects of growth.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience: Three years' experience in a related agricultural field required.
  • Skills: Strong communication and negotiation skills, ability to supervise a team, innovative and analytical thinking, result-oriented, composure under pressure, attention to detail, and perseverance.
Working Conditions
  • Greenhouse Environment: Work in a controlled environment with a temperature range of 70°F and background noise levels of 70 decibels.
  • Travel: Travel required between different greenhouse locations.
