Job Summary:

The University of Saskatchewan is seeking a highly skilled Payroll Clerk to join its team. As a Payroll Clerk, you will be responsible for collecting, verifying, and processing payroll information, determining pay and benefit entitlements for employees, and maintaining accurate payroll records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process semi-monthly full cycle payrolls for Canadian employees accurately and on time using in-house payroll/accounting software;
  • Process new hires, employee lifecycle changes, terminations, and ROEs, as required;
  • Review and ensure accuracy of approved time and attendance records;
  • Comply with College policies, procedures, and internal payroll controls to ensure accurate payroll processing;
  • Reduce risk by remaining current with the collective agreement and relevant legislation that may have a significant impact on the payroll and service payment processes;
  • Maintain personnel files and related documents;
  • Conduct year-end reconciliation of T4 slips;
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director of Human Resources to problem solve, build efficiencies, and improve workflow;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Post-secondary diploma or certificate in Accounting or a related field is required;
  • 2 - 3 years' relevant experience processing Canadian payroll is required;
  • Experience working with Sage 300 is considered an asset;
  • Experience working in a human resource information system (HRIS) is considered an asset.

  • Proficiency in both written and verbal communication;
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
