Quality Engineering Lead

The Quality Platform Director will oversee and lead quality initiatives related to the Waukesha product line. This includes managing the quality discipline supported by all relevant company functions related to engineering, sourcing and services, to ensure all product quality defects and non-conformities are tracked, actionized and resolved in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Accountable for launch and change control of relevant platform developments, including the release of new engines.
  2. Accountable for Quality Key Performance Indicators relevant to the engine platforms.
  3. Leading issue screening and continuous improvement processes.
  4. Driving quality plans and meeting production targets.
  5. Performing both servicing and packaging audits.
  6. Managing and controlling quality costs that are supported by management.
  7. Lead and champion Product Quality Issue Management (PQIM) reviews and lead and facilitate root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
  8. Perform field failure and reliability analysis based on product performance in the field to identify top field failure modes and drive resolution through cross functional teams to meet or exceed customer defect targets.
  9. Promote Lean Six Sigma integration by promoting the strength of both methods to achieve business goals.
  10. Leading and being a team member on multiple projects simultaneously within stringent time constraints, using discretion and independent judgment with the ability to maintain a good working relationship with all co-workers, stakeholders and clients.
Technical Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's degree in the appropriate discipline and 5+ years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 3 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required.
  2. University degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred).
  3. Exposure working with new product development of combustion engines or similar industrial products.
  4. Experience with product management of high expense and complex technical products.
  5. Solid Lean, continuous improvement and root cause analysis background with prior process improvement assignments.
  6. Certified Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma would be an asset.
  7. Familiarity with product Quality and Reliability methodologies including, MTBF, FMEA, Causal Effects Analysis, 8D, 5 Whys etc.
  8. Excellent written/oral communication and interpersonal skills, customer focused, enthusiastic.
  9. Willingness and ability to travel.
