Job Summary

Rocky Mountain Scenic Tours Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tour Guide to lead our customers on unforgettable journeys through the stunning natural beauty of Canada and China. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, sharing your knowledge of local history and culture, and ensuring that every tour is a memorable experience.

About the Role

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about sharing their love of the outdoors with others. As a Tour Guide, you will be responsible for:

  • Driving sightseeing or tour vehicles to ensure safe and timely transportation of customers.
  • Confirming transportation and accommodation reservations to guarantee a smooth touring experience.
  • Collecting administration or entrance fees as required.
  • Coordinating recreation activities to cater to diverse customer interests.
  • Describing points of interest, answering questions, and supplying information to enhance the customer experience.
  • Resolving itinerary and other problems promptly to maintain tour schedules.
  • Ensuring and monitoring luggage transfers to prevent delays.
  • Assisting clients with check-in procedures for accommodations and/or transportation.
  • Utilizing microphones or other communication devices to provide directions and important information to visitors.
  • Coordinating activities with local tour guides or leaders of performance groups.
  • Providing information on tipping customs, currency exchange rates, metric conversion, and other details to support customers' needs.
  • Assisting clients/guests with special needs to ensure accessibility and inclusivity.
  • Conducting guided tours of museums, gallery exhibitions, historical, heritage, and other sites, answering inquiries, and providing information.
  • Transporting or escorting individuals or groups on tours of cities, waterways, and industrial and other establishments.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience as a Tour Guide, preferably in the Canadian or Chinese tourism industry.
  • Excellent knowledge of local history, culture, and geography, particularly in Canada and China.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse customers.
  • Ability to work under pressure, think critically, and make sound decisions.
  • Physical stamina to withstand demanding tour schedules and varying weather conditions.
  • Reliability, dependability, and a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and prioritize tasks effectively.
Working Conditions and Physical Capabilities

This role requires working in a fast-paced environment, often under pressure, and involves physical demands such as walking, standing, and driving long distances. The ability to work under pressure, maintain attention to detail, and manage time efficiently is essential.

Estimated Salary Range

The estimated salary range for this position is $45,000 - $60,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. This estimate takes into account the location, job requirements, and industry standards.
