About the Role

The Home Support Worker (HSW) is an integral member of our team, reporting to the Assisted Living Clinical Manager and/or designate. This role involves providing person-centered and quality care to our residents, adhering to established policies and procedures, and ensuring their rights are respected.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement personalized care plans in collaboration with residents and healthcare professionals.
  • Provide assistance with daily living activities, including medication management, bathing, grooming, dressing, and meal support.
  • Respond to call bell alarms and provide timely support to residents.
  • Monitor residents' progress, symptoms, and behavioral changes, and report significant observations to the clinical team.
  • Encourage residents to participate in social, physical, spiritual, and recreational activities, promoting their overall well-being.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of community policies and procedures, including emergency protocols and safe work practices.
  • Attend and participate in community and education programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Perform night shift duties, including housekeeping tasks as per the night routine.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Graduate from a recognized Care Aide Program.
  • Active registration with the British Columbia Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry.
  • Valid First Aid Level 1 certification and current CPR.
  • Medication Administration Certification required.
  • Previous experience in a care community preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently, and understand verbal and written instructions.
  • Pass the vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check applicable to Provincial guidelines.
  • Good physical health, with the ability to perform repetitive tasks, lift, squat, bend, stand, and walk as required.
