Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Distribution Assistant. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of energy to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of gas distribution pipes and fittings
  • Learn and apply welding and pipefitting skills to support the construction and maintenance of our gas distribution system
  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe working environment
  • Provide excellent customer service and interact with the public as a representative of FortisBC
  • Participate in on-the-job training and coaching to develop skills and knowledge
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in a related field an asset
  • Valid BC driver's license with a safe driving record; Class 1 or 3 with air endorsement preferred
  • Previous experience in underground utilities or a related field an asset
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to learn new skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including walking, bending, and lifting
