About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Practical Nurse to join our team at Shannex Incorporated. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform initial and ongoing assessments of residents' needs and develop, revise, and implement resident care profiles.
  • Order, administer, and store medications and treatments in compliance with facility, pharmacy, and College of Nurses standards.
  • Adopt and enforce legislation and compliance mandates under the direction of the Director of Care.
  • Manage the department in the absence of the Supervisor or Manager, including staffing, equipment breakdown, supply ordering, and receiving.
  • Direct, assign, and evaluate the work of personal support attendants.
  • Assist in the orientation of residents, family, and nursing staff.
  • Document and investigate resident/staff incidents and complaints, and follow up with the Supervisor or Manager promptly.
  • Adhere to Employee Standards and ORCA Code of Ethics, and promote a safety culture by working safely, identifying and reporting hazards, following safe work practices and procedures, wearing personal protective equipment, supporting others to work safely, and completing safety education.

About You

We are looking for a candidate who:

  • Has a Diploma in Practical Nursing and is currently registered as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Has a passion for working with seniors and experience working with the elderly in a seniors' living or long-term care environment.
  • Has comprehensive knowledge of nursing and healthcare practices, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Is available to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Can provide a current CPR & Emergency First Aid Certification and a Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
