Job Summary:

The MEARIE Group is seeking a highly skilled Electrical and Civil Inspector to join our team. As an Electrical and Civil Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring that hydro distribution installations meet the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct on-site inspections of hydro distribution installations to ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and client standards.
  • Review project details and contract specifications to ensure contractors have a thorough understanding of the scope of work and client expectations.
  • Interact with contractors to ensure schedules are being met, advising on important timelines for construction.
  • Record and finalize all changes approved by the hydro utility Engineering department and on As-Built Drawings.
  • Verify that correct materials are used on site.
  • Collaborate with Field Coordinators to submit daily and weekly reports of construction activities, including major activities and progress updates.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering, or Powerline Technician certificate/Red Seal, or 309A Electrician's license, or equivalent industry training and experience.
  • Relevant industry experience, with utility industry experience being an asset.
  • Understanding of Hydro Distribution Designs.
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario Electrical Safety Code, and other relevant safety codes and practices.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Working knowledge of power and communications industries.
  • Computer skills.
  • Flexible scheduling and part-time roles are available.
  • Field-based role requires use of own vehicle.
