Electrical Civil Inspector Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Civil Inspector to join our team at The MEARIE Group. As an Electrical Civil Inspector, you will be responsible for performing on-site inspections of hydro distribution installations to ensure they meet regulatory, safety, and client standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect hydro distribution installations for conformance to drawings and specifications
  • Review project details and contract specifications to ensure contractors have a clear understanding of the scope of work and client expectations
  • Interact with contractors to ensure schedules are being met and advise on important timelines for construction
  • Record and finalize all changes approved by the hydro utility engineering department and on As-Built Drawings
  • Ensure correct materials are used on site
  • Work with field coordinators to submit daily and weekly reports of construction activities, including major activities and progress updates

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering, or Powerline Technician certificate/Red Seal, or equivalent industry training and experience
  • Relevant industry experience, with utility industry experience being an asset
  • Understanding of hydro distribution designs
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario Electrical Safety Code and other relevant safety codes and practices
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Working knowledge of power and communications industries
  • Computer skills
  • Flexible scheduling and part-time roles are available
  • Field-based role requires use of own vehicle
