Job Title: Security Officer

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Officer to join our team at the London Public Library Crouch Branch. As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for library patrons, staff, and volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the current Full Time guard in maintaining order in the branch, including taking the lead on incidents and responding to emergencies.
  • Open and close the facility, patrol interior and exterior spaces, and control access/egress.
  • Operate, access, and monitor video surveillance equipment.
  • Monitor and respond to alarm systems.
  • Provide security escorts as required.
  • Guards should maintain a high standard of civility, deportment, and appearance, and apply the Library's Rules of Conduct in a fair and positive manner.
  • Support staff, volunteers, tenants, and Library patrons by knowing and understanding the Library's Rules of Conduct.
  • Report incidents using the Library's Incident Reporting Tool.
  • Resolve incidents according to the Library's guidelines and procedures.
  • Protect all persons and property in the event of emergencies.
  • Function as the Primary First Aid service provider at the Central Library.

Requirements:

  • Physical demands include excessive walking and standing.
  • Working knowledge of the Trespass to Property Act.
  • Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer service.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated punctuality and reliability, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Patrol assigned area on foot to ensure personal, building, and equipment security.
  • Watch for and report irregularities, including security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations.
