About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Chief Digital Solutions Architect to join our team at the Department of Cyber Security and Digital Solutions. As a key member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will play a crucial role in delivering IT-enabled solutions that meet the needs of our users while aligning with Provincial technology standards and industry best practices.

Responsibilities
  1. Design Technical Solutions: Guide the team in designing technical solutions that balance usability, data security, sustainability, and cost, considering input from business stakeholders, vendors, and internal technical teams.
  2. Options Analysis: Review current systems functionality, current state architecture, and provide options and recommendations considering cost, usability, data security, scalability, re-usability, configurability, multi-tenancy, and sustainability.
  3. Architecture Diagrams: Create architecture diagrams and communicate the solution architecture to all concerned parties.
  4. Implementation Coordination: Engage directly with CSDS operations and technical teams to coordinate certain aspects of implementation.
  5. Consulting and Advisory Services: Provide consulting and advisory services to leadership and teams within CSDS and our partner departments by participating in RFP development and evaluation.
  6. User-Centered Services: Work with other members of the multi-disciplinary team to turn concepts into user-centered services and promote best practice.
  7. Interaction Patterns and Standards: Contribute to designing interaction patterns and standards, looking for common features across services.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology + 5 years related experience; or graduation from a recognized Information Technology Program + 5 years and 6 months related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be acceptable.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to provide innovative IT solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build relationships, gain consensus, and drive change.
  • Effective communication skills, with experience working at a strategic level to understand business challenges and craft comprehensive solutions.
  • Independence in high-level operations with a strong sense of curiosity and commitment to continuous learning.
  • Understanding of modern tech stacks (Python, Django, MySQL, OpenShift, GitLab, .NET, Angular, etc.)
  • Experience designing, developing, or supporting modern open-sourced software solutions is considered an asset.
