Job Title: Executive Director

Seabird Island Band is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Director to lead our organization in achieving our strategic objectives. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for providing strategic direction, advising on policy, and implementing work plans to ensure the efficient management of all programs and departments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise the day-to-day operations of Seabird Island, including all department heads and programs.
  • Provide leadership to department heads in establishing program and individual expectations, and regularly review performance of staff.
  • Identify, assess, and inform the governing body of serious issues, and provide routine updates on activities.
  • Develop and implement a communication strategy for public awareness of programs and events.
  • Oversee the development of a solid training plan to increase capacity of all employees, leading to an internal succession plan.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • Five to seven years of progressively responsible program management experience, preferably in the First Nations Band Management sector, social service sector, or with First Nations finance sector.
  • Knowledge of financial and reporting requirements for Federal, Provincial, and other funding agencies.
  • Ability to work independently and to be self-directing and self-motivated.
  • Ability to build effective interpersonal relationships from the community level to senior government levels.
