Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior I&C Systems Design Engineer to join our team at GE Power. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for the design and analysis of I&C systems for nuclear power plant applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and development of I&C systems from conceptual through detailed design, fabrication, assembly, production test, validation test, and site installation.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to define and achieve functional, performance, reliability, availability, and maintainability (RAM) targets and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA).
  • Develop and review unit, module, system, and integration test plans, procedures, and reports, including factory acceptance test, site acceptance test, construction, pre-operational, and start-up tests.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial Instrumentation and control, including nuclear, power, process, marine, oil & gas, military, aerospace, medical, or pharmaceutical.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with application, requisition, or field engineering in a combination of mid-tier programmable logic controllers (PLC) or top-tier DCS used in complex, instrumentation, data acquisition, control, monitoring, or automation.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in safety-critical applications or regulated industry.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in nuclear analog and digital instrumentation, control, and monitoring with detailed knowledge in safety-related systems, hardware, software, theory of operation, equipment environmental, seismic qualification (EQ) testing, and field services or plant start-ups.
  • Experience in DCS or PLC application, deployment, and support engineering of complex, high-reliability, signal acquisition, data processing, inter-networking, separation, safety hazards, reliability, simulation, cyber security requirements.
  • Clear thinker, detail-oriented, insightful, quantitative, results-oriented, able to learn quickly and make reasoned, sound, and timely decisions.
  • Effective communication, cross-discipline, and functional facilitation, and influencing skills, both verbal and written, with focus on requirements, design basis document, and technical presentation preparation and delivery.
Additional Information

Relocation assistance is provided. The successful candidate must have legal authorization to work in Canada and will be required to undergo a background investigation. The drug screen requirement in the background check process is not required if the role is based in Canada.
