Investment Portfolio Strategist

Empire Life is seeking a highly skilled Investment Portfolio Strategist to join our Retail Investment Products & Marketing team.
The successful candidate will cultivate market, competitor, and customer insights to inform strategies and tactics that drive the adoption and sales of Empire Life's investment products.
This role requires an experienced product management professional with strategic-thinking capabilities, strong influencing and implementation skills, and a proven track record of launching new products and growing market share.
Responsibilities include:
- Acting as key contact and subject matter expert/owner for sales and internal partners on existing products;
- Managing and overseeing updates to product and fund-related materials and tools;
- Proactively tracking and analyzing competitor's products, funds, programs, and positioning to ensure Empire has a strong value proposition;
- Developing and maintaining strong working relationships as the trusted subject matter expert with key internal stakeholders and distribution partners;
- Providing ongoing education on existing products and product features to key stakeholders, sales, and distribution partners;
- Identifying opportunities, developing business cases, supporting product and fund launch documents, and leading the implementation of approved plans to support Retail priorities;
- Providing input and recommendations into product and marketing plans for existing and new products and funds;
- Leading the development and implementation of materials, tools, and calculators in partnership with key internal stakeholders;
- Supporting sales objectives through identification, development, and delivery of compelling product presentations, materials, and effective sales tools for target audiences;
- Understanding, interpreting, and making recommendations about the impact of regulatory changes on the product line;
- Supporting implementation of new regulatory requirements, as needed;
- Providing ongoing tracking, monitoring, and analysis for existing products and funds for Retail Investment management;
- Supporting and identifying opportunities to improve automation, improve business efficiency, and processes using technical tools and resources;
Requirements include:
- A minimum of 5+ years of work experience in product management in the investment industry or financial services industry;
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a product manager role with experience producing tangible business results and demonstrated success launching new products and/or funds;
- Segregated fund product experience is strongly preferred;
- A strong understanding of segregated fund products, investment industry, regulatory environments, and competitive landscape;
- A strong understanding of sales concepts, distribution channels, and strategies;
- The ability to determine one's own path to success and not require extensive direction;
- Experience building persuasive product marketing briefs, marketing plans, and business plans;
- Demonstrated ability to initiate and build effective relationships with colleagues in other departments;
- Experience developing and delivering compelling presentations and marketing materials;
- Strong public speaking skills and experience presenting to small and large audiences;
- Strong project management capabilities with an emphasis on attention to detail;
- Highly analytical with the ability to conduct research, analyze data, and make recommendations;
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities including the ability to influence peers and leadership through strong communication and interpersonal skills;
- Able to prioritize and balance multiple tasks or projects;
- Strong knowledge of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and other spreadsheet, database, presentation software;
- Knowledge of industry tools such as Morningstar Direct is an asset;
