Job Description

Our Load Forecasting and Market Analytics team is seeking two experienced Market Fundamentals Analysts to support various initiatives related to energy consumption modeling, fundamental drivers assessment, and modernization of long-term load forecasting models. As a key member of this team, you will be responsible for collecting and analyzing historical load data, developing and applying forecasting methodologies and algorithms, implementing forecasting and visualization processes, evaluating and validating modeling accuracy, and communicating results to decision-makers and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and support the modernization of the long-term load forecast by leveraging expertise in time series analysis and modeling.\
  • Conduct research on impacts to the Alberta Interconnected Electric System due to electrification and decarbonization policies, industry trends, and emerging market conditions.\
  • Monitor and analyze load forecast drivers such as policy measures, market rules, emission regulations, and market trends.\
  • Develop market fundamental assessments using technical skills such as SQL, Python, and SAS to blend data and analytics with economic theory and principles relevant to the Alberta wholesale electricity market.\
  • Foster collaboration and teamwork, share information, ideas, and knowledge with internal and external stakeholders.\
  • Promote process improvement and implement approved changes in a collaborative manner.\
  • Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.\
  • Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders.\
