About Our Role

We are seeking an experienced Mining Operations Strategist to join our team at Agnico Eagle Mines Limited.

Job Description

This is a unique opportunity for a highly skilled professional to contribute to the optimization of our mining operations. As a Mining Operations Strategist, you will be responsible for analyzing and reviewing projects and operations in your area of expertise and contributing to other technical disciplines. Your tasks will include analyzing data, developing optimization scenarios, and finding innovative solutions to maximize profitability, sustainability, and longevity of our operations.

You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to improve life-of-mine scenarios and develop operational concepts that increase the company's value. Additionally, you will support Project Evaluation, Business Strategic Group, and Innovation as required.

Your next challenges will include designing scenarios/concepts to improve operational efficiency, increasing profitability, and contributing to achieving corporate financial targets. You will identify high-value re-engineering areas to optimize mine plans and operational methodologies, carry out detailed reviews of existing mine life scenarios to identify opportunities for improvement, and ensure that selected scenarios/concepts contribute to the enhancement of Agnico Eagle's value.

As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the development of opportunity studies from exploration to closure, identify areas where analysis of technical data could lead to improved financial performance, develop strategic and tactical recommendations based on analysis of operational data, act as an internal reference for activities related to your discipline when required, and develop innovative ideas to improve pre- and post-operational assets.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will require a broad understanding of geology, geotechnics, mining, metallurgy, and environment. Strong process analysis and cross-functional communication skills are essential. Ideal candidates will have proven experience in mining fields and in economical study. You will need to demonstrate your ability to generate new ideas to design alternative scenarios.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in mining engineering.
  • Several years of experience in mining operations or consulting.
  • Over 15 years of experience in the mining industry.
  • Advanced knowledge of mining operations and the financial aspects of the industry.
  • Ability to run scenarios analysis and economical study.
  • Generate innovative ideas and develop concepts.
  • Excellent record keeping, as well as written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English is preferred.
Salary & Benefits

The salary range for this position is between $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a generous retirement plan.

Location

This role can be based in one of our offices located in Rouyn-Noranda, Val-d'Or, Mirabel, or Toronto. We also offer a hybrid work schedule, allowing you to work some days from an AEM office and some days in telecommuting.
