Job Summary:
The Claims Analyst position at Toronto Hydro is a critical role that requires a high level of expertise in claims management. The successful candidate will be responsible for investigating, analyzing, and resolving property and casualty claims in a timely and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and administer the receipt, investigation, evaluation, and resolution of claims for and against Toronto Hydro.
- Evaluate financial exposures and prepare internal reserves.
- Identify claims that Toronto Hydro is obligated to report to its insurer's.
- Manage and document all claim information, decisions, and communications as per the Toronto Hydro claims management guidelines.
- Assess risk and loss trends to proactively make recommendations to effectively reduce and minimize third-party claims.
- Manage claims data system integrity and quality.
- Manage correspondence with insurance companies, claimants, internal business units, and other stakeholders regarding details and causes of incidents.
- Ensure the prompt and appropriate flow of information.
- Promote claims and loss prevention awareness to business units.
- Prepare claim files, materials, and evidence for legal use in hearings and lawsuits as needed to support the Litigation team.
Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in law, insurance, engineering, or a related field.
- Three (3) or more years of experience in customer service-focused claims management, legal environment, or insurance field.
- Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) Certification (or in progress) preferred.
- Ability to prioritize and complete all claims handling-related activities around the availability and accessibility of clients, third-party claimants, claimant representatives, witnesses, and law enforcement personnel, counsel, insurance representatives, insurance brokers.
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills with a clear client service orientation.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
- Ability to adapt effectively to a changing environment.
- Able to function effectively in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment.
- Able to work independently and with minimum supervision.
- Proficient in letter and report writing.
- Demonstrated ability in customer service, teamwork, initiative, self-management, accountability, and adaptability are required.
- Ability to cross-reference information with attention to detail.
Toronto Hydro offers a Hybrid Work Arrangement, allowing remote work up to three days per week, based on business needs. Employees will be required to come onsite on those days when they are involved in activities that they or their leader feel are better conducted in person. You are expected to live in Ontario and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.
