Laboratory Scientist for Method Development

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a skilled Laboratory Scientist to join our team in Chemical Analysis. This role will be responsible for providing analytical support in the Laboratory Operations Department, assisting with method development and evaluation activities, performing method validations and Research & Development (R&D) analytical testing, and making detailed observations and reviewing, documenting, and communicating test results.

About the Job
  • This role requires a strong understanding of basic chemistry and experience with common laboratory equipment and operation.
  • You will work independently and collaboratively with fellow team members to meet project and departmental objectives.
  • Able to read and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations, as well as apply mathematical operations to tasks such as determination of test reliability, analysis of variance, and correlation techniques.

We are looking for someone with excellent problem-solving skills and a logical approach to solving scientific problems, as well as demonstrable interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written).

What You'll Do
  • Document all experimental data in accordance with Attributable, Legible, Contemporaneous, Original, and Accurate (ALCOA).
  • Independently carry out HPLC, dissolution, and physical testing analysis following established procedures Analytical Methods and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Work proficiency with Empower, NuGenesis, LIMS, SM, MS Word, and Excel software.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting to overcome system suitability failures.
  • Follow method validation protocols and carry out method validation bench work.
  • Support ECS (excipient compatibility study) testing.
  • Recognize and report unexpected or Out Of Specification (OOS) results immediately to the Supervisor and conduct laboratory investigations under direction.
  • Maintain a safe working environment, lab 5S, and report potential hazards.
  • Perform alternating or rotating shift work (as required).
Requirements
  • B.Sc. in chemistry or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a science-related environment.
  • Good understanding of chromatographic separations.
  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative chemical or microbiological analysis.
  • Awareness of quality and regulatory requirements in the pharmaceutical industry.
Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $65,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
