The Saanich Peninsula Hospital's Emergency Department seeks a dedicated Emergency Medicine Physician to provide locum coverage. Located on Vancouver Island, this 65-bed acute care community hospital serves a population of approximately 87,000 individuals.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for physicians to gain experience in a single-coverage emergency department with limited support from respiratory therapy and ICU services. The ED is staffed by a progressive and collegial group of 16 full-time and part-time emergency physicians, working 5 shifts per day with double coverage during peak hours.
The hospital boasts 24/7 laboratory services and medical imaging capabilities, including a CT scanner available daily from 07:30 to 24:00. Tertiary care support and consulting services are accessible within a 30-minute drive to Victoria General Hospital and Royal Jubilee Hospital.
Applicants must possess CCFP-EM or FRCPC Emergency Medicine certification and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC. Ideal candidates will have community hospital ED experience, flexibility in scheduling, and the ability to manage crisis call-in volume and acuity work.
