Federated Co-operatives Limited, a leading wholesale co-operative in Western Canada, is seeking a skilled Materials Estimator to join their team in Pincher Creek, AB.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing estimates, providing consultation and advice to customers on building projects. This includes interpreting client input, documentation, specifications, and design drawings to determine the costing and selling price associated with building materials and manufactured components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in providing leadership and expertise for in-house project planning, including project scope, plans, material/component specifications, and supporting material/component estimates.
  • Monitor building material inventory levels, forecast future requirements, and order inventory accordingly.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with current contractors, architects, engineers, building inspectors, designers, material vendors, trades, local Co-ops, local Home Builders/Contractor Associations, and customers.
  • Read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, or computer-aided drawings and provide customers with detailed estimates outlining building material requirements.
  • Suggest changes to construction plans where building code, structural integrity, or efficiency may be a concern.
Requirements
  • 1-2 years of related experience in plumbing, electrical, or construction.
  • Proficiency in computer applications for developing spreadsheets, documents, and customer files.
  • Honesty, trustworthiness, results-oriented work ethic, and commitment to excellence.
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to make decisions in a fast-paced and pressurized work environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and business acumen.
  • Work effectively in a team environment.
  • A valid Class 5 driver's license for travel within the area.
