At Carrier, we are seeking a skilled Service Controls Specialist to join our team. As a Service Controls Specialist, you will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance, repair, installation, and commissioning of building automation control systems. This role requires a high level of customer satisfaction, and you will be accountable for ensuring that our customers receive exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all ALC and customer safety standards, promoting safety awareness on work sites.
  • Communicate with customers upon arrival and before leaving the facility, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate outstanding issues and recommend system enhancements, upgrades, and/or repairs, working with the service team to engineer and estimate solutions.
  • Perform system maintenance in accordance with established service practices and direction, maintaining feedback of equipment scheduling and modifications needed to the service team and their appointed supervisor.
  • Manage assigned work to meet professional execution of time and customer satisfaction.
  • Report issues or changes to management immediately in accordance with company policy and practices, interfacing with service coordinators, service account managers, and service project managers to coordinate activities as required.
  • May provide training to customers on their specific control systems operations, delivering documentation to the customer as needed or as contractual obligation requires.
  • Follow established learning paths and conduct extensive self-study (reading, research, and practice) to improve and maintain technical proficiency in company product lines, completing certifications as required by the company.
  • Complete all job-required documentation on-time, including time sheets, expense reports, posting of work orders, on-site documentation, and project status reports in accordance with company policy as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree from a recognized college or university in building HVAC with a focus on building automation controls (3- or 4-year program) or a High School diploma and 3+ years in HVAC building automation controls.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in the HVAC controls industry.
  • Possess and maintain valid and current Driver's License and be insurable by the company's insurance carrier.
  • Willingness to travel in excess of 75% of a typical work week, including air travel, overnight hotel stays, unexpected travel, and participate in rotating on-call schedules.
  • Must be capable of climbing ladders or using other lift equipment more than 8 feet above grade and capable of lifting items up to 50lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to work alone and communicate effectively with customers.
  • Knowledge and understanding of systems software to read, test, and make changes to logic as needed.
  • Ability to download and troubleshoot basic HVAC system logic using WebCTRL and associated software.
  • Good understanding of troubleshooting methods and practices.
  • Entry-level working knowledge with WebCTRL software functions and utilities.
  • Basic knowledge of TCP/IP networks, including wireless technologies.
  • Ability to read and understand Architectural, Mechanical, and Electrical blueprints.
  • Basic experience with Microsoft software products, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and other Windows products.
  • Possess computer and networking skills to properly maintain their laptops and mobile devices.
  • Possess a good understanding of the operation and control of mechanical equipment and their control sequences.
  • Experience in dealing with several simultaneous challenges, requiring knowledge of many different disciplines.
