Job Summary

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Psychologist to join the Short-Term Assessment and Treatment Centre at UBC Hospital in Vancouver, BC. As a Psychologist, you will be responsible for providing psychological services to clients, including assessments, treatment, and education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct psychological assessments and provide treatment to clients
  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with clients and other healthcare professionals
  • Provide education and support to clients and their families
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care
  • Participate in quality improvement and risk management activities
Qualifications
  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from a recognized university
  • Two years of recent experience in therapeutic, diagnostic, and consultation services in mental health and substance use
  • Current registration with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia or registration within two years of employment
  • Valid Class V driver's license and possession of a personal vehicle with business insurance coverage when required
Knowledge and Abilities
  • Knowledge of psychological assessment, including semi-structured diagnostic assessment
  • Knowledge of therapeutic, diagnostic, and consultation techniques
  • Knowledge of treatment, assessment, and management of anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, and psychological trauma
  • Knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation methodology
  • Knowledge of psychopharmacology (indications and side effects) and substance use and addictions issues and treatment
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and harm reduction approaches and strengths-based care
  • Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous cultural safety
  • Knowledge of adult education principles, methods, and tools
  • Knowledge of other healthcare disciplines and their role in client care
  • Knowledge of evidence-based psychological practice
