We are seeking a highly skilled Network Systems Specialist to join our team at the University of Toronto. As a key member of our Information Technology department, you will be responsible for troubleshooting complex computer system problems, planning components of projects, and directing a small group in a limited area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot complex computer system problems and identify solutions to improve network performance.
  • Plan and implement network infrastructure projects to meet the needs of the University community.
  • Direct a small team of technical support specialists to ensure efficient and effective delivery of services.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and user support guides to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with vendors and contractors to resolve technical issues and improve network services.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar role, supporting a high-volume, client-centric, heterogeneous network environment.
  • Strong experience in troubleshooting wireless issues across a range of endpoints, including MacOS, Windows, Android, iOS, and others.
  • Familiarity with layer 2 and 3 network protocols, including STP, IPv4, IPv6, ISIS, OSPF, BGP, and others.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate technical requirements to vendors and contractors.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment.
