Software Controls Engineer

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a highly skilled Software Controls Engineer to join our team. As a Software Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing control systems software for various projects.
Key Responsibilities:- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with company procedures and policies.
- Timely execution of assigned scope in assigned software project capacities.
- Perform suitability assessments and qualifications of system hardware and pre-developed software components.
- Support designing, installation, and testing of assigned product test environments.
- Integrate software and hardware components and prepare software engineering documents.
- Site support and software maintenance services include shift work.
- Implement and maintain key project support systems for the tooling department.
- Support selection and qualification of Control Systems hardware by the tooling group.
- Assist in preparing validation tests and/or review results of validation testing.
- Responsible for change control using configuration management system.
- Prepare and maintain work plans for control software change activities.
- Support OPEX Review and assemble OPEX and assess changes for future designs.
- Report and suggest resolution to potential impacts to technical quality.
- Ensure all work activities are performed safely in collaboration with the Project Safety Manager.
- Engineering degree (Electrical, Control, Software) from an accredited university.
- Minimum 4 years relevant work experience.
- Siemens PLC programming experience – Step 7, S7-SCL, S7-GRAPH, S7-Starter, SIMATIC NET, WinCC Flexible, and S7 Distributed Safety.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience with Siemens TIA V18 or higher.
- Knowledge of WinCC Unified.
- Siemens SCADA programming experience – WinCC Classic.
- Siemens PROFIBUS and PROFINET.
- PELCO experience (Endura Certified System Technician an asset).
- Engineering drawings interpretation.
- Engineering Change Control knowledge.
- Computer proficiency – Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Access, Visio, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Analytical ability and effective decision-making.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Situational awareness and effective problem-solving skills.
- Interpersonal communication skills.
- Written/oral communication skills.
Security clearance (from Candu Energy and OPG) must be obtained and maintained as a condition of employment.
