Finance Director

**About the Role**

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance Director to join our team as a Strategic Operations Manager.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of the municipality, including managing all municipal accounting functions, preparing monthly financial statements and reports, and supervising finance department staff.

Key responsibilities include coordinating, developing, and preparing the annual budget for Council review and approval, as well as preparing and presenting monthly and annual financial statements for Council, including variance analysis and financial forecasts.

The Director will also manage and administer the RM's reserve funds and develop and implement strong financial policies, procedures, systems, and controls to support effective financial management.

This role serves as the key contact for municipal audits and is a member of the RM's senior management team, participating in strategic and operational planning.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

1. Possess a relevant degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or similar; a Professional Accounting designation is preferred.
2. Certificate in Municipal Administration would be an asset.
3. A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a financial management capacity, with previous experience in a municipal environment preferred.
4. Demonstrated experience with budget planning and control, preparation of financial statements, including variance analysis and financial forecasting, preferably in a municipal or related environment.
5. A proven leader, with experience managing a variety of staff within a collective agreement framework.
6. Experience with strategic and operational planning, and a demonstrated capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively.
7. Strong oral and written communication skills, with significant experience preparing a variety of reports and correspondence.
8. Experience developing and implementing financial policy and procedures.
9. Strong financial systems experience, with experience utilizing Asyst an asset.

$95,000 - $125,000 per year
