Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Building Operator to join our team at BGIS. As a Building Operator, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities, including mechanical and electrical systems. This is a full-time contract opportunity with a possibility for extension.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and on-demand maintenance on facility mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Conduct facility walkthroughs for mechanical, electrical, and other equipment system monitoring and inspection.
  • Operate facility mechanical and other systems.
  • Manage work order life cycle and record resolution data within our service maintenance management database.
  • Assist in the implementation of preventative maintenance (PM) programs.
Requirements
  • High school diploma plus trades training and/or certification or licensing.
  • Minimum 3 years experience providing preventive and corrective maintenance on heating ventilation and air conditions systems, or pneumatic or hydraulic systems.
  • Sound knowledge of processes and practices relating to facility operations and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain, troubleshoot and repair mechanical and other building systems and equipment.
  • Possesses a strong environmental, health, and safety mindset.
  • Strong client-service orientation along with a high sense of urgency.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Building Automation Systems (BAS) and HVAC Systems.
  • Effective communication skills for data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarification.
  • Mentoring skills required to support lower level technician's development.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Building Operator Certification or equivalent through an accredited institution.
  • Provincial HVAC or apprentice license (e.g. Gasfitter I & II license, refrigeration license).
