A DAY IN THE LIFE...

As a Structural Steel Welder/Fitter at PTW Energy Services, you will be responsible for reading and interpreting blueprints or welding process specifications and welding symbols. You will operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW). You will also remove welds using the Air Arc Gouging process and complete assigned work within given timeframe and according to specifications.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • One year of work experience in the trade is required. Some college or industry courses in welding are considered an asset.
  • Interprovincial trade certification (Red Seal) is an asset.
  • Specialization in structural construction welding is considered an asset.
  • You will ensure all required CWB qualifications are current.
  • You will possess a solid understanding of welding equipment and welding accessories.
  • You will possess knowledge of pre-heat and post-heat temperatures and applications.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • You must have own transportation as location is not accessible with public transportation.
  • A premium for night shift is available.
  • You must supply basic hand tools.
  • You must have CSA approved steel-toed boots.
  • Overhead Crane certification is an asset.
