We are a reputable real estate developer, the Newlands Group, seeking an experienced Commercial Property Accounting Expert to join our finance team. Located in Vaughan, ON, this role offers a competitive salary of $120,000 - $150,000 per year, based on experience.

Job Overview

The Newlands Group manages five commercial properties and requires a highly skilled accountant to oversee their financial management. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for managing full-cycle accounting for these properties, including accounts payable/receivable, rent roll management, and tenant reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Management: Manage the financial performance of five commercial properties, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Investment Accounting: Assist with tracking and reporting on investment performance across the portfolio, supporting investment-related forecasts, budgets, and financial models.
  • Cash Reporting: Oversee the preparation of weekly and monthly cash flow reports, working closely with finance leadership to forecast cash requirements and report on liquidity.
  • Compliance and Audits: Ensure compliance with all accounting standards and internal policies, coordinating with external auditors during audits and assisting with tax filing processes.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 4-5 years of experience in commercial property accounting.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA designation preferred but not required).
  • Proficiency in property management software (e.g., Yardi, MRI) and accounting tools (e.g., QuickBooks, Excel).
  • Experience in investment accounting and cash reporting is highly desirable.
