Environmental Lead

You will play a key role in the successful delivery of our projects as an experienced Environmental Lead. With a strong background in environmental controls and mitigation measures, you will lead a team of professionals to champion the health and safety of all employees on our project sites. Your expertise in installing environmental controls and safeguarding water, air, and soil quality will be invaluable in achieving our goal of zero incidents.

Key Responsibilities- Mentor, train, and coach site Environmental personnel.
- Implement and advise on Environmental programs on project sites.
- Perform field inspections, including erosion and sedimentation controls, turbidity monitoring, noise and vibration, air quality, soil management, groundwater and stormwater management, invasive species monitoring, Tree Cut Permitting, Conservation Authority, and Permit to Take Water/Environmental Activity Sector Registry Permitting.
- Review inspection and testing results for conformity to requirements.
- Collaborate with Operations to provide input on Quality requirements for Detailed Execution Plans.
- Understand and interpret applicable contract documents, codes of construction, and regulatory standards.
- Present information clearly and make technical information clear.
- Schedule inspection and testing resources to support operations requirements.
- Ensure Inspection and Testing equipment is managed in accordance with equipment calibration requirements.
- Manage and maintain Quality Document Logs.
- Review, report, and act on performance metrics.
- Possess a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in chemical, civil, or Environmental engineering.
- 5+ years and/or CAN-CISEC certification for Construction Erosion and Sedimentation Control Inspections.
- 5+ years of experience with groundwater and surface water management, sustainability, noise, and vibration, and permitting process.
- 3+ years of construction rail-based experience in developing ESC plans, management, inspections, corrections, etc.
- Experience in the identification and evaluation of Designated Substances and Hazardous Materials in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ontario Regulation 278/05, Ontario Regulation 490/09, Regulation 860 made under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Ontario), Regulation 347 made under the Environmental Protection Act (Ontario); and Regulation 362 Waste Management – PCB's made under the Environmental Protection Act (Ontario).
- ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems experience is a plus.
- Field responsibilities throughout the year in varying weather and site conditions.
- Availability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and/or nights.
