Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Assurance and Control Manager to join our team at Ingredion Plant Based Protein Specialties (Canada) Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the quality assurance and quality control function at our plant, ensuring the production of high-quality, safe products that meet all customer, company, and regulatory specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Product Quality Management: Monitor and approve products, investigate analytical discrepancies as required, to ensure that only products that meet company, customer, and regulatory specifications are released.
  • Customer Requirements Management: Maintain up-to-date customer requirement records and review and approve new or revised customer specifications to support the accurate approval and release of products.
  • Quality System Auditing: Audit plant quality systems related to manufacturing, loading, sampling, shipping, and receiving, as well as external wash-stations, break-stations, and warehouses, to ensure that quality systems meet all applicable customer, company, and regulatory quality specifications.
  • Pest Control Management: Manage the pest control program and contractors to ensure that the plant meets all applicable GMP, safety, and quality requirements in this area.
  • Customer Audit Preparation: Prepare the plant for, represent the plant during, and follow up on observations after customer audits to meet customer requirements and maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Document Control: Manage the document control process in accordance with ISO standards.
  • Nonconforming Product Disposition: Determine disposition, root cause, and corrective action in case of nonconforming product or other customer issues to ensure customer satisfaction and minimize recurring quality problems.
  • Customer Complaint Management: Manage customer complaint process, including documentation, root cause analysis, customer responses, and complaint reduction goals.
  • Technical Assistance: Provide technical and professional assistance to Plant Operations, Sales, Technical Service, Customer Service, and Order Coordination to support the achievement of quality, safety, sales, and production goals.
  • Quality Objectives: Lead personnel to deliver on annual quality objectives, including FSSC 22000, HACCP, NonGMO, GMP, and all food safety, food defense, and quality programs.
  • Continuous Improvement: Set strategy, KPIs, and deliverables for continuous improvement toward the journey to become an injury-free workplace.
  • Action Plan Execution: Create, execute, and report on action plans to drive out variances on a monthly basis.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related Food Science field.
  • Experience: 5-7 years' experience in industrial food manufacturing, preferably in Corn Wet Milling.
  • Knowledge: Significant experience and knowledge of GMP, HACCP, Food Drug and Cosmetics Act, and FDA regulations.
  • Skills: Working knowledge of analytical methodology (standard methods) and wet chemical analysis, with skills in troubleshooting equipment, methods, and procedures.
  • Computer Skills: Strong computer skills with knowledge in the use of MS Office, SAP, and Lotus Notes.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated experience working as part of a team, managing people, and leading personnel to deliver on quality objectives.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written, verbal communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to convey information in a clear, focused, and concise manner.
