Electrical Engineer for Water Infrastructure Projects

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Intermediate Electrical Engineer to join our project delivery team at Stantec Consulting International Ltd. in Canada.
About the Role:
This is an excellent opportunity for an electrical engineer to work on some of the most interesting and iconic water infrastructure projects in North America, from water and wastewater treatment, to conveyance, flood protection and resource recovery facilities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for applying engineering knowledge, concepts, and experience to size, evaluate, select, and specify electrical power, lighting and auxiliary systems for use on assigned projects in accordance with relevant codes and standards.
Main Responsibilities:
- Act as Engineer-of-Record for projects and/or project components within areas of professional competency.
- Evaluate, select, specify, and engineer all electrical engineered systems or products for a project.
- Engage in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
- Participate in site evaluations and construction support activities throughout project design and implementation.
- Support equipment and control system inspections and pre-commissioning.
- Active participation in field data-gathering and equipment assessment assignments.
- Utilize technologies in development of three dimensional models of electrical systems.
- Provides guidance, training, and mentorship for junior engineers/EITs.
- Prepare and revise documentation in various phases of design and construction, including plans, diagrams, and details.
- Provide input to developing instrumentation and controls deliverables including control narratives, control system architecture; control panel design; calculations; P&ID development and input.
- Lead project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors.
- Participate in client project requirement meetings and value analysis and basic cost estimating.
- Assist Senior Engineers with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule.
- May lead the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents for electrical and control systems.
- Perform and oversee the performance of calculations using company standard software, and proprietary manufacturer software.
- Utilize advanced techniques for the analysis of specialized electrical elements.
- Participate in constructability reviews.
- Conduct quality assurance and implement quality control frameworks on own projects.
- Assist in the development of new standards and specifications for the electrical group.
- Work on multiple projects and provide electrical, instrumentation and controls input for multi-disciplinary projects.
- Conduct field reviews to assess as-built conditions.
- Provide construction phase services, respond to RFIs, review shop drawings, and conduct reviews of construction for general conformance with design.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer or the ability to obtain within 12 months.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience.
Estimated Salary Range: $95,000 - $125,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
Location: Various locations across Canada, including Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, London, Burnaby, Red Deer, Waterloo, and Victoria.
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week.
Travel: Up to 10% of the time.
