About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Nova Scotia Community College team as an Instructional Designer. As an Instructional Designer, you will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of instructional materials, activities, and evaluation tools for NSCC online and blended courses and programs.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement instructional materials, activities, and evaluation tools for NSCC online and blended courses and programs.
  • Work closely with various NSCC groups, including other Instructional Designers, external stakeholders, associated organizations, and government departments.
  • Stay current with the latest technologies, educational philosophies, and best practices in instructional design.
  • Train and support faculty with the development and delivery of effective online courses.

Qualifications and Occupational Experience

  • University undergraduate degree and a recognized Professional Certification/Designation in Instructional Design or equivalent combination of education credentials and certifications within the subject matter.
  • Minimum of five years (full-time equivalent) of recent and relevant experience in developing, designing, and supporting online courses and programs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning techniques and assessment strategies, as well as experience with educational technology.
  • Proficient in learning new tools and technologies.
  • Aware of Universal Design for Learning and Culturally Responsive Pedagogy as educational frameworks and experience incorporating these principles into course design.
  • Familiar and comfortable using computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, email, industry-standard software, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) on Mac and PC platforms.
  • Experience working with Brightspace (or other learning management systems) will be considered an asset.
  • Experience with eLearning authoring software packages such as Articulate Storyline and Camtasia will be considered an asset.
  • Background in Apprenticeship training will be considered an asset.
