POSITION TYPE FULL-TIME

Position Overview:

The Indigenous Women's Healing Centre is seeking a qualified Cultural Support to join our team at the North Star Lodge. As a key member of our service team, you will provide culturally sensitive supports, guidance, and teachings to our residents, promoting positive change and growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide access to ceremonies and act as a role model for our residents.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community members and organizations to ensure culturally relevant approaches and practices.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager to develop and implement culturally sensitive programs and services.
  • Conduct or assist in Sweats, Teaching Circles, and other healing ceremonies as required.
  • Provide excellent organizational and time management skills to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Work effectively as part of a service team to achieve our centre's goals and objectives.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, staff, and community members through excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of cultural safety and its application in our service delivery.
  • Ability to speak an Indigenous language is a definite asset.
  • Hold a valid driver's license.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience and community recognition as a cultural resource.
  • Previous experience in providing cultural supports to the community, including conducting or assisting in Sweats, Teaching Circles, and other healing ceremonies.
  • Knowledge of culturally relevant approaches and practices.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a service team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of cultural safety.
  • Ability to speak an Indigenous language is a definite asset.
  • Driver's license is required.
