Job Summary

The School District #8 (Kootenay Lake) is seeking a qualified Education Assistant to provide specialized support for students with identified special needs. The successful candidate will be assigned to a school-based team and will work under the direction of the Principal.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support to students with special needs in a classroom setting
  • Assist students with daily living skills, such as personal care and mobility
  • Support students with behavioral challenges in a non-confrontational manner
  • Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents
  • Participate in school-based planning teams to develop and implement individualized education plans
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements
  • College diploma or equivalent in Education Assistant or a related field
  • Experience working with students with special needs
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Valid B.C. (Class 5) Driver's License (may be required)
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to work in a school setting, which may involve standing for long periods, lifting, and bending. The candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
