Job Title: Homeless Information System Trainer

Join our team as a Homeless Information System Trainer and play a key role in providing training and support to users of the Homeless Individuals and Families Information System (HIFIS).

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced trainer to provide initial and ongoing training and support to users of HIFIS. As a Homeless Information System Trainer, you will be responsible for promoting HIFIS to new users, developing partnerships with federal government staff, and orienting, training, testing, and updating users on HIFIS and related legislation, regulations, policies, and practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote HIFIS to new users, Homeless Service Providers, and other potential providers
  • Develop partnerships with federal government staff through activities such as HIFIS software training, IT and software technical support, and validation of data integrity
  • Orient, train, test, and update users, Emergency Shelter operators and their staff, and selected Department staff on HIFIS and related legislation, regulations, policies, and practices
  • Receive, analyze, and report on HIFIS aggregate data and trends and assist in the development of community data reports on homelessness issues in the province
  • Prepare statistical fact sheets and report cards based on data compiled by HIFIS, including demographic
  • Participate in the optimizing of HIFIS
  • Participate in meetings, committees, and task forces, as assigned
  • Ensure that services provided meet Regional customer service standards
  • Maintain expertise in technical skills and program knowledge by reviewing technical literature, participating in regular field practice, and attending training, seminars, and conferences, as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned, in accordance with Branch and Department objectives
Qualifications
  • Successful completion of a Community College Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related discipline or approved equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum three (3) years experience designing and delivering adult training/education in a social services environment and/or demonstrated experience supporting a technical application, testing databases, and identifying inconsistencies in system operations, with exposure in both areas
  • Demonstrated experience in computer systems development process
  • Valid Ontario Class "G" driver's license and a reliable vehicle to use on corporate business
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including customer service, communication, team work, initiative/self management, accountability, flexibility, and adaptability
  • General knowledge and demonstrated ability in instructional design, analysis, measurement, and evaluative methods, facilitation, and presentation skills
