Subject Matter Expert in Mass Timber Construction

SAIT's Continuing Education and Professional Studies (CEPS) is seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Mass Timber Construction to create curriculum for Continuing Education.
About the Role:The SME will work virtually with a Product Strategist and Instructional Designer at SAIT to create and review the curriculum.
- Create Course Schedule, Course Outline, Course Description, Assessments, Engaging Activities, Resources, and Slides for Mass Timber Construction.
- Ensure course materials promote learning and help measure and evaluate students' ability to achieve important, real-world competencies (knowledge, skills, performance tasks, behaviors).
- Ensure the course is learner-centered and engaging.
- Ensure material is current, relevant, and delivers a quality learning experience.
- Content should align with industry standards, requirements, and best practices.
- Define accurate, clear, specific, relevant learning outcomes for the course.
- Ensure competencies and learning outcomes are aligned with course content.
- Update other pertinent information, including required learning materials, software, technology, assessments, modules.
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management is required. An equivalent combination of directly related education and experience may be considered.
- 2 to 3 years of knowledge and experience with Construction Management and Mass Timber Products and Construction.
- First-hand knowledge of what employers and industry seek or need in terms of course competencies (knowledge, skills, performance tasks, behaviors).
- Relevant field experience within the last six (6) months.
- Knowledge of current industry standards and best practices.
- Previous experience developing curriculum (preferred).
- Have strong attention to detail in written communication.
- Maintain reliability and accountability to timelines and project milestones.
- Maintain attentiveness to the deliverables of the engagement and respond to communication in a timely manner.
- Ability to organize and present written information.
- Fluent in English reading and vocabulary.
- Positive & respectful attitude.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Team player – easy to collaborate and work with.
- 2 years of experience in training or teaching is an asset, preferably in Construction Management.
- Experience and fluency with Office 365 (MS Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- Experience with videoconferencing technology (MS Teams, WebX, Skype, or Zoom).
- Project Management Professional (PMP).
- Previous teaching experience is considered an asset.
- Previous experience developing or revising courses.
- Experience with a Learning Management System (Brightspace or Moodle is an asset).
- Training and knowledge of adult learning fundamentals.
- Formal training or education in facilitation or teaching.
- Formal training in online technologies.
